26. Dave Rees Space Entry
I spend way too much time in my workspace as well… My desktop is an Apple dual 1.25 ghz G4 PowerMac with 1.5gb of RAM and 2 – 250 gb HDs. The white box on top of my Mac is a Formac TVR to record my Sci-Fi shows on my HDs. The laptop is an Apple Titanium 1ghz G4 PowerBook that I do my web & graphic design. The LCD is a 26” Sharp AQUOS HD TV. My PDA is a Palm Tungsten T3 that I’m never without. I use the 3G 15gb iPod at work and my wife and I use our iPod minis on our runs. We use a Linksys wireless router & booster to stay connected. On top of the wireless is a Belkin Bluetooth access point to connect my T3 to the internet. The monitor is a 17” Dell LCD that I hope to someday upgrade to one of Apple’s new fancy-dancy displays.
27. Joel Suplido's Space Entry
Well here's the story behind my workspace picture.
We usually work on the dining table. My computer is the Powerbook, my girlfriend's is the 12" iBook. Our friend owns that 14" iBook. They have names too: (L-R) Ivy, Chips, and Phoebe.
Basically no wires (except when the battery power runs low). Wireless internet access is graciously provided by our neighbor upstairs. Printing on paper is done in school (I teach middle school kids). I use Sidetrack so that got rid of the mouse. The Powerbook's speakers is good enough for DVD watching (and MAME games). BluePhoneMenu handles my SMS and calls. The MissingSync allows me to hotsync through Bluetooth for my Clie TH55/E in my pocket. Music is of course via iTunes (and I WILL get an Airport Express soon). Pictures are handled by iPhoto. The only clutter exists in my Desktop, as you can still faintly see.
28. Chris Brooks Space Entry
My computer used to be in the attic, and I had 2 large desks spread out with junk (I also build robots as a hobby, so imageone a desk full of wires and soldering irons). When my wife was pregnant she complained that it was like climbing Mount Everest to get to the computer, so we moved it into the back room, which is the picture you now see. I was told I wan't allowed my swivel chair in there under pain of death so I've had to use one from the dining room, it's not very comfortable for long periods, but I suppose that's a good thing.
29. Ian Davenport's Space Entry
Here's my work area entry...
Three cradled PalmOne PDAs and a PowerToGo sled mark the periphery about the Dell 17" flat screen, jockeying for space with a mug of tea. An iPod Mini neighbours an Exilim cradle, empty of course because the Exilim is busy taking the photo. The value of wireless peripherals is clearly demonstrated by a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse positioned mere inches away from the radio pod. Below lurks an HP laser printer, a generic subwoofer and a custom-built PC (and its backup neighbour). The eagle-eyed may spot international power adaptors, a battery-powered USB port, bluetooth dongle and an extra IPOD cable for the Mini's big brother, which spends most of its time hooked up to the HiFi.
30. Toni Fettig's Space Entry
This is my desk where I spend about 60% of my life. I am a full-time college student studying Computer Science Information Systems and Psychology in Minnesota.
Picture taken with my Sony Cybershot T1. Included on my desk is a PalmOne Zire 72, Sony Clie TH-55, Apple PowerBook G4 12" (80GB, 512MB, Superdrive, with 1 Cupertino Ave displayed), Apple iPod Mini w/ Docking, Motorola T-720 phone with Spongebob Squarepants Faceplate, a series of WaterField bags, a Polaroid DVD player (playing CSI:Miami), Brando TH-55 case, Brando iPod Mini case, Sony Cybershot Lifestyle case, and of course a genuine blue/white swirl Lava Lamp! All of this setting on Ethan Allen furniture! Only the best for the best....
31. Robert Schenck's Space Entry
Here is my working world. Alright stop smirking.
From right to left we have the following: My desk phone, a spare desk sword, my Creative Nomad Zen xtra (40Gig), the Alien, my iPaq h2210, a half empty cup of coffee resting on the first HD I ever blue screened (624MB), a picture of my son portraying Capt. Jack Sparrow as he was at age 5, my 21 inch LG monitor, Animal, a clock set to the time in Minneapolis (no reason), Darth Maul, my Microsoft Wireless Keyboard (under desk), a Dell yoyo (Dude, it's a yoyo), a picture of Graham Chapman dying for our sins, a piece of the Western Wall, my Microsoft wireless desktop mouse and receiver (over desk), my desktop PC (2.4Gig P4 running W2K Pro with 1 Gig RAM and a T1 hookup), a SanDisk Cruser Disk on Key (256MB), an X-Wing, my Tungsten E in an Innopocket Hardcase (laptop replacement), my primary desk sword (always go with silver, hardware engineers are allergic to it) and my mobile phone chair (a Moto T720).
Sorry about the poor quality image, the pic was taken on a Mustek GSmart Mini 2 (I love toy cameras).
32. Christopher Kalanderopoulos' Space Entry
My name is Christopher Kalanderopoulos (Im 15) and here
is my work (and play) space!!
33. Jonathan Quirk's Space Entry
My space is a corner of the dining/living room. The
computer is a home built Duron 900 with 512MB DDR, 80GB HD, DVD and CDRW and
runs 98SE. Net connection is by ADSL (PCI card). Printer is Epson Stylus Photo
895 which has a PC card slot with a compact flash adapter in it. Scanner is
Epson Perfection 1250. Palm Tungsten|T2 sits on a Logitech Type-Away keyboard
next to a Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel trackball. Behind the phone is USB 2.0
SD card reader for squeezing tunes into the Palm. To the right of the 17" CRT is
a Nokia 8310 on its charging stand and a Palm m500 on the HotSync cradle. There
is a Nokia 6310i next to the T2 which provides mobile net and email over GPRS
from Vodafone by Bluetooth link. Keyboard is a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite.
Just out of shot is a Belkin Bluetooth dongle on a 3m USB extension cable
clipped to the doorframe allowing the T2 to get net access all over the house
and (just) into the back garden.
34. Jamie Hoban's Space Entry
Here is my computer work area complete with Vaio computer, Sony 17" monitor, Compaq 3850 Ipaq Pocket PC, Scanner, and Creative Labs 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers. The other "non-tech" stuff includes the Big Kahuna Figure with white puka shell lei (left), the flying egg (upper right) and green M&M man for those late night snacks (center).
35. Edward's Space Entry
My name is Edward, and I like my gadgets, in fact, I like lots of gadgets!
Shown in the picture is my P4 3.0GHz workstation, on the floor. It powers dual 22" monitors that give me tons of real-estate for surfing the-gadgeteer and other tech-gadget websites.
Not shown, but powering the dual MAC LCDs, is my G4 Quicksilver 867MHz workstation. I simply love MAC OSX. Also shown, MAC related, is my baby; a 15.4" TiBook. By far the best laptop I have ever owned...and I have owned many makes/models of laptops.
The dual keyboards obviously run each OS separately and the MAC kb is wireless, so I can move it out of the way when I game:)
Not shown as well is my Palm T3 PDA, Compaq Tablet PC, Epson 960 printer and 24-port switch than runs cable to each and every room in the house.
I guess my work-area could be tidier, but I know where everything is at arms' reach and my wife dare not clean it up!!
36. Hikmet Hanna's Space Entry
My name is Hikmet Hanna. Here's my workspace and a little info about it. There are 3 pictures. I'll explain each one.
My workspace consists
of:
- PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz / 2.0GB RAM / 4 x SuperDrive
- 20" Apple Cinema Display
- Apple Pro Keyboard & Mouse
- 15GB iPod (Not Shown)
- Palm Tungsten T (it has no "home" on my desk because I use Bluetooth to Hot
Sync)
- Glyph NetDrive 80GB External Firewire HD
- Harman Kardon Soundstics
- Contour Design Shuttle Pro
- M-Audio Ozone Midi Controller (Too far to the left to see here)
- HP DeskJet 5550 Printer (Far out of the picture. Long USB cable)
Ergonomic
Considerations:
I've worked hard to make my workspace clean, easy to use, and functional.
Nothing gets messed up because nothing ever needs to move. I've places
everything exactly where I need it and exactly where I think it should be. I
can't generate clutter because there's no place to put it. It sticks out like a
sore thumb, so clutter / mess doesn't last long. In other words, I don't work
hard to keep it clean because the way it's arranged doesn't encourage / allow
for messiness. (A self-cleaning Desk.)
Under The Hood:
This picture shows underneath the desk. I had three glass panels cut to
precisely match the height and with of each desk section. The result is that the
mirrors completely conceal the "gazillion" wires that all this stuff generates
and makes the workspace look larger than it really is.
Style:
I tried to pay attention to form and function so each piece of equipment
matches another AND gets the job done. So for those that say the neatness
portrays too much "coldness" and rigidity, I say just the opposite. I've tried
to build a calming, relaxing, and pleasant environment for surfing, reading,
making music, or just...thinking.

This is my shuttle S51 with 2.6 Pentium, 512 mem, Radeon 9600se, and SoundBlaster Audigy. Also a MAG 17 inch monitor with a Smart multimedia keyboard. My printer is a Epson R300 stylus. The laptop is a IBM ThinkPad R32 1.6 Pentium 4 mobile and 1 gig of memory. I use the shuttle for downloading and burning disc while the laptop does all the web surfing, emailing, chatting and not to mention artwork with Adobe Photoshop. Thank you for the opportunity to show my space and after showing my wife the others she can stop complaining to me about overkill. LOL. In closing I would also like to mention how much I enjoy your site and the informative reviews. Keep up the good work.
38. Brice Ligget's Space Entry
Well, here it is. All closed up with the baby lock installed. RioVolt SP250 on top for escape music. Hiding behind the SP250 is the 802.11b router and cable modem. Linux manuals and MCSE manuals with baby books right under them. The silver cylinder in front of the national Geographics is Duct tape. Handy for controlling the older child. :)
Main work space, keyboard and mouse partially stowed. All machines are getting a little long in the tooth but functional. I use the Belkin Omniview so that I can have a separate 'kids' machine running '98 for games. Cradles for the my/wife's/11 year old's Palms are on the middle shelf. Way to much paperwork stuffed into odd corners. Does anybody have a paperless office?
There are the computers. Bottom one is the game machine while the tower is used for the grownups. That fancy laser printer was a garage sale item. The lady selling it felt bad for charging me $10 because 'it wasn't color'. :) You can see the Cambridge sub hiding behind the door. That's for the main machine, all our music is in MP3 format. The game machine makes due with headphones.

Network also extended into the living room for connection to another ReplayTV, AudioTron network audio player, another Xbox, & networked NEC laser printer in the closet. There is a Linksys wireless access point attached that allows roaming with the laptop, and also gives a wireless connection to the 20GB Omnifi mp3 player in my truck to sync with my music database every night!
I have all the network components, all the computers, & both ReplayTV's on battery backups also.

Hi everyone!
48. Mohd Nazley Fadhley's Space Entry
Here's my office away from office. This is my retreat after a day's work. A basic Dell machine, Tungsten T|3 and a Psion Netbook and a Twinhead notebook (not in picture), keeps me occupied at home (apart from my 3 boys). All devices are wirelessly networked on wi-fi and bluetooth. My wife tells me there's enough microwave in the apartment to cook an egg ... :)
The picture shows my kitchen wall into which I have built a flat screen computer which connects to my home wireless network. The kitchen screen provides broadband web access, access to my MP3 music database (which runs on a server upstairs), it is a digital television providing access to hundreds of TV and radion channels as well as being a personal video recorder. Control of the computer is by wireless keyboard and mouse.
