Functional workspace where everything is within arms reach and eyesight. No
moving around to get to, or see anything. The in-case CD/DVD caddies hold
needed back ups and often used disks.
Now if I could only find a recliner computer chair with built in massage.
Anyone know of one?
55. Daniel Chun's Space Entry
My space features an IBM thinkpad X30 hooked up to a 15 inch monitor for extended desktop. There is a linksys wifi router on the very top. The two speakers on top are powered by a 160 watt mixer that is right underneath it. My pda is a Sony UX50 and my phone is the Motorola V600.
The desk also folds up when not in use to save space.
56. Ronen Shurer's Space Entry
My workspace consist of two workstations, one I use as a server (Win2k3) for IIS, FTP and Exchange, the other is a WinXP used for surfing, games and any other activity. Both connected with an ATEN kvm switch and a HP 19" screen. I also have an IBM T40 ThinkPad laptop that I use mainly for work. On the left there is an HP DeskJet 5652 duplex printer. A 3com wireless gateway (to the right) connects all the computers together, and then connects to a Samsung ADSL modem. I use a Muzio MP3 player that I bought in Korea for listening to music, although I have a Sony T665 Clie, that I use mainly for contacts, meetings, calculator when I'm on the road. An S710 polar watch (heart monitor) records all my sport activities so I can analyze them later on the laptop. And last but not least - a bonsai tree (to the left) that I love very much.
All these lays on a table that my dad and i have built with our bare hands.
57. Jonathan Lee's Space Entry
My desk is L-shaped and next to my bed. I have my T3, Nokia & bunch of remotes on my bedside table so that I can reach them whether I’m in bed or sitting at the desk. I have a TV and stereo on the opposite wall but they’re too boring to photograph. My DVD writer is there too for convenience and connected to the computer under my desk via Brando’s USB2-to-IDE cable I first read about on The Gadgeteer’s website (it became to inconvenient having to reach & feel for the eject button each time I wanted to use the drive). My computer itself is placed under the desk to decrease noise (it really does make a difference) and save desk space. The printer is there for the same reason. My wireless access point is to the left of Cable Hell, hidden from the camera’s angle, unfortunately. I have my cable tv box connected to my computer since most of the time, I’d be watching a show on my PC monitor while browsing the web or doing some work or whatever (it’s also connected to my real TV)… When I need to be mobile, I use my Fujitsu P1110 and TDK slim external writer & Creative TravelSound if necessary.

OK, here is my humble abode. It's pretty cluttery, but I'm moving to a different one next month, so I ain't cleaning until then. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Man, there are some neat work spaces out there. Of the four in my house this is the one I call home.
62. Ben J. Davidson's Space Entry
Note the sight on my main monitor ;)
My pda is in the aluminum case laying on the right near the wireless joystick and the zalman 5.1 headphones.
And yes, this is my work desk. I use computers on a kvm with the main pc having access to the 2 flat panels also. Works well for my database and programming work.
63. Björn Blomberg's Space Entry
Yes, this is my actual (ordinary) working space and where I write this text, in my "updated" living room...
I run two web sites and you see one of them - the free EE passion contact club - in my Toshiba's lovely 15" screen...
Then have we my "old" but still superior Psion 3C (hope the coming Nokia 9500 can replace it) and my trusty Siemens mobile phone... On top of my HiFi equipment, shine my amazing Panasonic MX8 video camera and 100 cm behind my notebook (just right of the picture) stand my huge TV set and far right four giant speakers (modified 15" Cerwin-Vega) so the little one in the top corner, is just one of the surround speakers... Finally can I naturally move the "desk" when I sit down in the comfy leather sofa, so I get my notebook almost in front of me and I live in Stockholm, Sweden!
64. Enrico Bicol's Space Entry
Good day to ya, my fellow gadgeteers! This is my Workspace, or should I say Play-space =) Sometimes I call it The Bridge (Picture taken with a Sony Cybershot Camera). I normally spend 8 to 10 hours a day on this spot doing mostly music & audio stuffs. And of course, just like any other Gadgeteer, Surfing the net! its an essential part of my lifecycle
As you can see, the space is very limited in terms of floor area considering the number of gears I have. My first dilemma when I was just setting up is how to fit everything into this corner without cluttering the space. So I custom designed a 4-segment L-Shaped desk that can accommodate all the toys that I have.
What you dont see in this picture are: My other windows computer in the adjacent area, APC UPS, HP deskjet 5652, the tons of cables hidden behind each desk and Spider Man coz hes too busy swinging around the room when this picture was taken.

Space is a premium in my apartment. So I took advantage of my balcony and made it into a cozy corner for writing articles on my Pocket PC. Inspiration comes easily when I have a cup of hot chocolate beside me, listening to my favourite CD on the stereo and expecting a phone call from my girlfriend.
67. Bob Reinke's Space Entry
In the center is a 21" Hitachi CRT surrounded by 2 19" Sony (dell branded) monitors. Under the main monitor is a 7port USB hub and an internal DVD burner that was converted to external with a micro pro plus case. (thanx #62). There is an Ipaq 1935, and the Sony Vaio to the right. The dragons keep the gremlins away from the P4, 2.8GHz, 2GB Ram, 80GB HDD PC with more lights and gadgets than an airport. Finally, there is a picture of my wife, which I was informed was MANDATORY at my workstation. If you were to look to the right of this radiation machine, you would see Ben Davidsons workstation (#62), but it is nowhere near as fun as mine. And mine IS bigger.

stereo ;-) // Microsoft Wheelmouse Optical used on iBook (back to right-handed
use here ;-) // External Firewire 2.5" 60 Gb hard disk // and finally, my lovely

Original and very nice, Valerie!
My desk consists of two recovered wooden panels on top of two IKEA trestles.
Hey! Before you move on to the next setup, take a look at the pretty painting in
the upper left. I bought it in a consignment sale house (TROC).

Here it is... my space/office. From left to right CRT and LCD on a Sony Vaio Wintel, then Cintiq, ad Two Apple displays for the G4, tucked in front of the second Apple display is a Sony TH55 and my T610 phone should be there (or it's gone for walk... again!) Then finally there's an Apple Powerbook.... both main machines have the Logitech MX500 wireless recharging mice (best mouse I've ever used, Apple stuff is great but One button?!) Anyway, my iPod is there and a PowerMate should be on there somwhere too. Hidden away are LaCie drives (mirrored) for backups and a 1500w APC UPS... and all the network equipment can be seen hiding on the left.
I pretty much had to stand in the next room to get a picture of all this <grin>

76. Barry Galvin's Space Entry
The part of my house where dreams are recognised and imaginations run riot.
Where characters are born, and the space around us is explored. Every gadget
has its purpose ...
My Apple iPod 20Gb feeds my imagination with images from sounds of music.
My Sony Vaio FX laptop acts as the tool for extracting the images and
thoughts from my mind.
My Lacie External Disk backs up the Drive so reserves its parking space
under the desk.
My HP Business Inkjet 1100 printer allows my work to be touched.
My Nokia 6310i acts as my connection to the outside world, through sound and
pictures.
My Dazzle USB 2.0 breaks the 'language' barrier as my data is allowed to
move from place to place.
Three dimensions are reduced to two dimensions with my Sony Cybershot 3.2
Mega Pixels.
Letters from friends and loved ones are converted using my Canon ScanJet
into a format that will out live its creator.
As I look through my Celestron telescope (just out of frame) I wonder how
many other 'people' on baron or lush worlds are sharing the same feelings as
my technology shows.
My Palm Tungsten T decides when I spend time at my desk, unless the
professional urgencies of my Tungsten C decides otherwise.
And although not a gadget, the Michael Myers figure reminds me of the darker
side of humanity. But the Unicorn figure reassures me that all is not lost.
77. Harris Graber's Space Entry
I probably won't win any Good Housekeeping awards, but
maybe this is sufficiently unique to win something.
This is my home workspace. My business workspace isn't
quite like this. I only have one computer at work.
I can find most everything I need, though not necessarily immediately. The chair is comfortable. The towel is to protect it from my cats.
This is my space at work. I took a quick break to take this photo with my new Canon S1 IS that is always in my backpack (except when it is being used, of course). I cleaned up yesterday because I had to find a particular paper that had disappeared.
78. Brian Crew's Space Entry
I am in the Army and when I am not at the office or deployed here is where I spend most of my time. My job in the military requires me to be a jack of all trades when it comes to computers. A network technician one day, a graphic illustrator the next. I keep my office computer linked to my home PC (an Alienware Area51) via my trusty Tungsten T3. I use my laptop (an Alienware Area 51m) for business trips and those long deployments...not to mention hours of gaming! Both my wife and I are artists so we alternate on who uses the drafting table and who works the PC. I use Adobe Photoshop 7 and Corel 11. I use a Linksys Router for my wireless network. For my scanning and printing needs I have a Epson RX600 printer and a Astra 122OU scanner. I have a 250mb and 100mb ZIP drives and a Western Digital 60mb external hard drive for backups and a handy 512mb thumb drive for the road.
79. Mark Anderton's Space Entry
80. Jason Pascoe's Space Entry
Jason's Spacey Workspace. This my home workspace in Berlin, Germany. As you can see from the pictures I love 70s /spaceage design (flea markets come a close second hobby to gadgets!). I often work late at night and like to have a nice ambient light (the orange/red is not a malfunctioning camera - it really looks like this!) with some ambient music in the background (Lali Puna is playing as I write this). On my spacey table I keep laid out my various PDAs I've bought over the years (I first got hooked back in the 80s with a Psion Organiser II). This is for function as well as for decoration; as a Palm developer (amongst other things) I like to have all the older models to hand for compatibility testing.
On the outer ring there is: an original U.S. Robotics Pilot, a U.S. Robotics PalmPilot, a 3Com PalmPilot, a 3Com Palm III, a 3Com Palm IIIe, a Palm IIIc, a Palm Vx, a Palm m125, a Palm m505, a Palm m515, and a Palm Tungsten T. Everything still works fine!
On the inside ring is the original Psion Organiser II Model XP, a Psion Series 5 (Special Olive Green Ed.), Psion Revo, Handspring Visor Edge, and HP iPAQ h4155.
The latter HP is my current device. Why? great device design, very portable, no slider, built-in Bluetooth and WiFi, great for word processing with HP's fold-up keyboard, great MP3 sound, and although the screen-res is less than the T3 I find the font rendering much nicer. That said, I find many of the apps and UI - esp. NotePad and ToDo - better thought out on the Palm OS.
My main computer is a Sony Picturebook which is networked via a free WiFi hotspot run by the beer garden next door (and which, on a good day, just about covers my apartment too - though sometimes I have to crouch with my laptop in the very corner of my room to get a signal!). The Picturebook is a portability dream - its as small and light as you can get whilst still having a usable keyboard, processor & screen resolution. For music my Pocket PC is hooked up to the Vision 2000 (the spacey-looking 70s HiFi in the corner!) though sometimes it is my laptop. (Incidentally, the smaller ball-on-a-stand thing next to the Vision 2000 is one of the speakers...)
You may also just be able to make out next to the illuminated globe an old Ericsson phone (the dial is on the bottom). Also in the middle of the table is my first "computer": an early Seiko digital calculator watch! Other miscellaneous items include an old Polaroid camera (much more fun than digital's in my opinion... and with the picture acting as a physical link to the time & place it was taken... and with much more random/artistic results!, a 70s remote controlled R2D2 (hard to spot, but visible!) and an empty container of Ben & Jerry's half-baked ice-cream (you will rarely find a full one in my apartment!!).
81. Alex Mayorga Adame's Space Entry
This is my corner. From left to right: mini phone with a Jabra EarWrar, random writing tools, an Andrea microphone (came with my ViaVoice), my Treo 600 sync base, my beloved Dell Latitude CPxJ, my CD-RW/DVD-ROM Sony MPD-AP20U, a Cordless Mx Duo and one “balero” (traditional Mexican toy) for the times when I get bored wit the internet. You can also see the SpeedStream 2500 DSL Modem (turned into router) a Belkin 7-port USB hub, “al cheapo” speakers, the wireless keyboard for my m130 (not showing), random CD’s and magazines. Not showing: an HP PSC 750 and my much loved Treo 600 GSM (taking the picture). Please vote for me =)
