Owner Comments on the UniMount
System Review |

I installed my Unimount about a week ago and am overall pleased with the product but
there are some areas for improvement (especially for the price).
The Unimount must have been designed for the Palm Pilot and not the Palm III. If you leave
the Palm III snap on cover on, it becomes trapped within the Unimount catches and unable
to open.
The selector system, although intellectually intriguing, is all but useless for me. Even
if it works perfectly, unless you mount it to your steering wheel, its too far away to see
how to line it up. But I like the long stylus/pen combination and the clip to attach it. I
was grateful that instructions and parts were included to remove the selector system and
replace it with a stylus holder.
I was mounting the Unimount on an existing flex mount in my car. The screws in the kit
were slightly too short for my installation. I called Revolve and received no sympathy for
my problem. I was told that I received the screws that came with the kit and they couldn't
help me. It wasn't that hard to find screws at the local hardware store but I did not
appreciate the attitude I received when I called in.
Overall I am pleased with the product but the price is steep especially if you add a flex
mount or cell phone holder. I hate how much I paid for it but I like the convenience of
having a place for my phone and Palm Pilot in the car.

Dear Don,
Recently, I acquired a Uni-Mount from Revolve Design. I was pleasantly
surprised! A good deal of thought went into this unit! I use it daily in my
Patrol Unit (I am a Police Officer), and have had no problem with it
whatsoever! The Uni-Mount is sturdy, and versatile. With the use of the
pedestal, I can view my Pilot at just about any angle. One may gasp at the
price ($69.95), but hey, you get what you pay for! And believe me, this baby
is worth every penny! Once you get it you will wonder how you did without it!
My suggestion to my fellow Piloteers-------- GET IT ! You will love it!
Sincerely,
Officer Tom Slovenski

Dear Julie,
I received my UniMount and have been using it for about a week now. It is a clever device
that seems quite practical. The only problem that I have found with it is as follows:
The main reason for my getting it was because I thought that the sliding selector stylus would work well while driving. THe Idea is great. The only problem that I had with it was that it isn't callobrated correctly to open the appropriate phone book entry. It was manufactured too far to the right and opens the note instead of the entry. The solution in the manual and from tech support is to re align the digitizer in the preferences section. When you select preferences go to digitizer and re align your stylus to be aproximately 1/8th of an inch to the right of the cross hairs.
This sufficiently solves the problem while the unit is in the base. The problem is that when you remove the pilot from the base you must re align the digitizer again to the center or you can not effectively use the device. This is a little annoying and could have been planned a little better.
However, all in all I like my unit. I really think that they should correct this problem.
Hope this comment helps.
Robert Tudisco
Note: In response to Robert Tudisco's comments on the selector calibration issue, the digitizer should be set to no more than 1/16th of an inch (1.5mm) to the right of the center of the cross hairs to correct the condition. With this change, there should be no need to re-calibrate again. The situation you are dealing with is infrequent, and we have just made a change in the manufacturing process to eliminate it all together.
Thank you for your input.

Julie,
Nice review and good pictures. Just an observation that may interest
your readers. I have a WorkPad /Palm III and I am using the fold over
cover (for now) and it would not work with the base unit without
removing the cover.
The mount does look really nice!

The next several messages were forwarded from Revolve:
Michael,
Received my UniMount yesterday - excellent product - well done.
Keep up the good work - any other products we can look forward to?

Kevin
Michael,
Although I was a bit frustrated over the entire ordering process, and I know some of it
was out of your hands, I have to admit that I am extremely impressed with your design. Was
it worth the wait? Definitely! Of course, I wish I didn't have to wait so long now that I
have seen the product. I can honestly tell you that I will use this EVERY time I am in my
car, and even though I bought it as a purely functionally accessory, I can tell you that
it will impress the hell out of everyone that sees it. I know I'll end up with a few
jealous Pilot buddies :-)

Chris,
I have a demo of this product in my possession. It is amazing.
Highly recommend you purchase some for distribution to the Widget companies worldwide!
Let's also hope he ultimately releases a Nino 300 version of the stand!
Let me know if you need further "reviews" or material on this product. I just
got the manual/setup guide for it mailed to me. Great stuff. Works like a charm with the
PalmPilot, too!
All the best,
