Stand Newton Case Review Last date revised: 03/23/99 |
Thanks for your review of the Hand Stand case for the Newton. I purchased one recently; while the quality of materials and construction are very good, I'm still disappointed. It's just too thick for everyday use. I don't think it would fit into most briefcases, and I'm afraid that airlines might consider it my one carry-on bag (although I suppose I could argue that it was no different than a purse). While the concept of a case that allows easy use of the Newton and keyboard in a clamshell-style "laptop" configuration sounds good, the Hand Stand hasn't convinced me that it's practical.

Good review on the Hand Stand. I've had one for about a month. I agree that
the holster is too tight - it needs to be a little bigger. Also agree that
the credit card holders are useless. But aside from that, it is a well made
case that performs it's intended function admirably.
I often use the Newt as a Laptop substitute at work and on travel. I almost
always want the keyboard with me and the Hand Stand allows me to use the
Newton as a mini-laptop.
If a user primarily wanted quick access to their Newton as a hand held pen
device, the Hand Stand would not be the right choice for a case.
